Why I Am Not Having Kids and other musings…

October 14, 2007

I’ve agreed to watch my sister’s kid for three days a week while she works part-time at her old job. It will bring in a little bit of money. Also-the library job search seemed to be dead in the water. I turned in two apps, had an interview downtown, and seemed all set for one more interview and hopefully a job but I didn’t seem to go that second interview.

We went to the library on Thursday night which was a bit out of our normal routine but I had some movies come in and needed more books so off we went. When we checked out Chris got to talking with the lady about me being perfect for the job. Turns out she’s the circulation director and will have an opening soon. So another app and hopefully when I turn it in on Monday something good will happen. No idea on the times needed or whether it’s full or part time. But it’s something.

My sister has two fairly normal kids and then there’s Gabby. She’s just like her mom: bossy, strong willed, and temperamental. Oh, and loud. Supposedly I am suppose to be able to change Nick Jr’s line up to be just Diego and Dora. This is not going to be the easiest money I’ve ever earned. In the least. But mom did give me some pointers and said she would bring some toys up. I am so not prepared as I have no toys or kid’s videos around to entertain her. Right now, we don’t have the money to purchase videos or toys but we will work it out.

Our local grocery store has starting carrying a new snack mix made by Cheerios. It is very good and so addictive. Sitting here at the hubby’s work with Dr Pepper and the Cheerio snack mix. That with some peanut M&Ms and coffee ice cream in the freezer. Life is good here in Tulsa.

Weather has finally cooled down here in T-Town. Evening lows has been in the fifties and sixties and highs in the seventies and eighties. Overall it’s been really nice. With this nice weather, I can at least get Gabby out some to the park or whatever.

I’m still breathing…

October 7, 2007

We had to cancel Internet at home so I am rather limited on my Internet time.  Also, the job thing is totally working out…the interview went well but so far no go on another interview and/or job. Patience and the Sunday paper-looks like I will be putting more aps out on Monday.

I saw We are Marshall this weekend and loved it. In fact, that is going on to my list of favorite football movies. Along with Rudy, Invincible, and Remember the Titans.Very, very good. I have been working on the AFI list and getting lots of older movies watched. I do have to say that I could not make it through Raging Bull or Lawrence of Arabia. I did try so I’m giving myself credit.

In baseball news, the season has ended with the exception of post-season play. No Cardinals, or Houston, this year and it seems almost anti-climatic. Although the Cubs are already knocked out so I know the world isn’t going to end tomorrow :)

Pirates fired coach Jim Tracy. Cardinals let go of GM Walt Jocketty. That shocked me when I saw that and I wonder if we are going to resign LaRussa. We did pick up Izzy’s option so we know at least what closer we will have. Already the fire/hire carousel in open for business and the season isn’t over yet.

Weather has been warm here in Tulsa-Indian summer I guess. Mid to upper 80’s with some humidity but it’s looking like the next week will be a little cooler-lower 80’s and upper 70’s with lows in the 50’s.

Chris and I went to the fair last week and had a great time. Walked through the exhibition halls and spent a few minutes walking around some of the rides. We got a lemonade, two bottles of water, candy apple, and two corn dogs,  and spent nearly 12 dollars. Glad we don’t ride the rides or we would have to sell bone marrow :) But in all, we had a great time and came home sore and tired.

So I’ve now checked in-off to go waste more time on-line. Have a great day!

This N That

September 15, 2007

Yeah, yeah. No post in like forever. Between two email accounts and my RSS Feeder I feel like what little time I do spend online is getting this to managable numbers. I have a job interview-this in one of two-with the library on Tuesday. Here’s hoping for good things. Once I get a job we’re getting internet :)

We’ve found the next place we’re going to live in. So now it’s just packing and moving at the end of October. Any volunteers? Yeah, didn’t think so.

I wasn’t liking the way WordPress distorted some of my photos so I’ve got a new blog set up for that at blogger: 1001Pics. I like the layout and the undistorted photos. Much better.

Well, it’s five am and I am getting so sleepy. So here’s hoping y’all have a great weekend!

This is for you, Baby

September 9, 2007

My husband wanted a post so bad-here it is darling.

Reasons I’ll never get married again:

I like being alone.

I don’t have to eat meat at every meal and he does.

I like having a whole bed to myself.

I can hang my own pictures.

I can fix my own computer.

I can fix and set up the DVD player to the TV.

It’s cheaper to eat out when you’re single.

It’s cheaper groceries when you’re single.

I own my own tools.

I like long quiet drives with only the radio for company.

I’m not big on large gathering of drunk idiots yelling Freebird!

I really don’t like weird crazy music; what’s so wrong with the Oldies from the 60’s and 70’s?

Laundry would be cheaper and quicker if I was single.

I wouldn’t have to consult with someone else on decorating the house. His taste is Ozzy posters.

But on the plus side-I have someone that takes out the trash and kills bugs. Nah-not getting married again. Unfortunately I am stuck with him. Darn the luck :)

Pics!

September 5, 2007

One of my 101 goals is to take a pic a day. I’ve started another blog just for those photos plus the one Chris will take of me every week. The picture blog, 1001 Pictures, joins my other sites Edible and Economics, and My Other Addiction.

And yes, I’m still reading on Monte Cristo. I am hoping to be done within a couple of weeks. Hoping :)

New Look

September 2, 2007

What do think? I like it if I do say so myself. I posted a 101 in 1001 days page that can be accessed on the right. The list has a little intro about what exactly it is and what my goals will be. I’ll try to post those that I accomplish here along with pics.

We are without internet and I am going to have to cancel our subscription at least for the time being. We are looking at moving when our lease is up-which makes me very sad. I have enjoyed Park Villas even if maintence is rather slow. I’ve made a list of 15 properties to look at and when we get closer to November 1 (October 15 will be decision day, hopefully) I will look at some house rentals/property management websites for here in Tulsa and just maybe something will happen. Right now our rent is 549 plus the water/trash that has been averaging 20.00 per month plus the cost of two covered parking spots at 20.00. Total rent is close to 600. Means we eat beans and ramen noodles for the first fifteen days of the month. Tired of being broke and tired of struggling to make it. Time to step back and accept an apartment that may not be what I want to get through this period in our life. I would rather eat than starve in a large apartment.

Well, I need to get home and settle in. Look at the paper and read more Count of Monte Cristo-it’s only 1200+ pages. Have a great weekend.

Money and cars

August 31, 2007

We’ve decided to sell my car. I’ve put in my resume and application at a few places and have had no response. Neither of us want me to go back to the hotel business. Several reasons for not wanting to be in hospitality again but the main thing is I guess for now I will stay home a bit longer.

We don’t have internet at home and I don’t think we will have it for a few more days. Money is so incredibly tight at the moment and that is partly behind the reason for sellign the car. There is a car dealer in town that supposedly will buy used cars so I will call them tomorrow along with the bank who has the loan on my car for a payoff balance. Betsy will be gone soon. In reality I don’t drive my car too often-maybe once or twice the hubbies work on the weekends.

Well, I think I am going to boogie here. Y’all have a great weekend.

Hi!

August 17, 2007

I’ve placed my recent del.icio.us links on the sidebar but here recently I’ve just been put “xx” on the things I want to come back to so I am going to sort through them. This is just plain weird. It’s tattoo’s that look like the muscles an whatnot under your skin. I don’t know what to think of this.

WordPress wasn’t working with me last night so I thought I would give it a shot at the moment. Here goes nothing!
