Preview of Summer

May 30, 2007
Seems I’ve picked up a new reader this weekend. Welcome one and all. I didn’t mean to sound all doom and gloom this past week. Just tiredness that won’t go away. I’ve had a preview this weekend of how my summer will be and I can’t wait. I am trying to get college going once again and trying to get the tax info from the father-in-law.
In good news, we got the literal tax check in our hot hands. We are going to be getting a digital camera and I just can’t wait. I’m going to start a food blog-especially now that I will be off and cooking/baking more. And not just the boxed mix of brownies that are currently sitting on my counter.
Not much else to report; I’ve got a new blog for my reading called My Other Addiction. I’ll probably start a wordpress food blog but happy with Blogger for my personal blog. I’m trying to wade through Dickens at the moment and wondering what in the world possessed me-I’m not a Dickens fan. I tried sitting and watching The Graduate but just couldn’t do it tonight. I did get the very first season of Law and Order and got that watched tonight. Very intriguing. To finish this block of what I’m watching/hearing; I’m listening to Paint It Black by the Stones via a very cool sites called Musicovery.
I’m off to watch Titanic cause the in-laws thought I just had to watch it. My eyeballs are rolling at this. At least I can just turn it off and lie about getting through it.
Have a great day! Ciao!

LinkFest

Antarctica

I forgot to do my Sunday Links…so here they are a day late!
From the El Dorado County Library Linkfest:
The Front Pages of most newspapers. This site has recently been redesigned and looks great.
StateMaster is a great place for some reference data on the US.
And if you need to know what not to name your kid go here.
Curious about people sick all over the world, or where not to travel, try the Healthmap.
Antarctica-some place I want to see someday.

And the next 5 del.icio.us sites:
Picasa, Google’s photo album.
The First Ladies-someday I am going to read autobiographies of these women.
A revamped Tyndall report-what the big three networks are reporting on the nightly newscast.
The DEA’s Drugs of Abuse report. Great reference article.
NYTimes movies reviews-I find this a great source.

So there you have it-links for the week.

Hold on

May 27, 2007
Please bear with me, folks. I’ve got just six days before I’m fancy free. I am feeling so wiped out and stressed and icky. Give me a couple of weeks to get work done and then regain balance. We’ll be back on our regularly scheduled postings soon.
By the way, Sandy Klaus is inhouse tonight! And he’s driving a Buick LaSabre. Isn’t he a few months early?

Dean Hancock

May 25, 2007
I’ve spotted this at Tim Ellsworth tonight and it made me so mad I wanted to spit. The USA Today story is here. The story is that Josh Hancock’s father, Dean is suing everyone involved with his son’s death. Hancock is the STL Cardinals pitcher who passed away last month. He’s suing the guy who’s car stalled out. He suing the towing company. He’s suing the restaurant, Mike Shannons. He’s suing the restaurant’s manager. Hell, Dean, why don’t you add MLB and the Cards to that list. After all the Cardinals gave him the job that had him in STL that night.
Now, I know that Dean Hancock is mourning the death of his son. It’s gotta be the hardest thing ever to go through. But is suing the pants off of everybody involved really going to get Josh back?

Friday’s Feast

May 25, 2007

Appetizer Name a sound you like to hear. The sound of silence-too often the TV and/or radio is blaring. Just silence, please.

Soup What is your favorite kind of cheese? Extra sharp cheddar.

Salad Do you sleep late on Saturday mornings? Why or why not? I sleep late most mornings!

Main Course When was the last time you forgot something? What was it, and how long did it take to remember it? I know I’ve left stuff at moms-I left my purse there the other day-got out to the car, hubby backed up and then parked again. At least we didn’t get far!

Dessert Fill in the blank: I notice ____________ when _____________. I notice how messy the house is when I can’t walk through it anymore!

This N That

May 24, 2007
I don’t feel like blogging. Shame on me. I’ve got just eleven days before my lazy summer begins. Just trying to hang on and make it through. I was half afraid that I would come in last night and the front desk manager or someone would be there so I could train them. Get me out of there sooner. Jeff still hasn’t emailed me back on my question I had for him so I’m holding off talking about how the meeting with the GM went. Everyone seems to know at work though. I get a lot of, “How lucky are you!” Yes, very lucky. My husband is world-class.
My sister is supposedly on her way to dye my hair. Right now it’s dishwater (dirty) blonde/brown and I’ve got strawberry blonde dye for her to put in. I’ve got supper cooking-it’s got another half hour. I bribed her into coming up. If she show’s-she said she would be here half hour ago.
Well, it thunderboomed today-really nice sleeping weather. It’s not nice and cool here in T-Town. I’d inquire about when summer is going to get here but summer in Tulsa means 90s and 100s with 95% humidity. Not what I call fun :)
We got tickets for two concerts this summer: Ted Nugent and Gordon Lightfoot. Chris really wants to see Nugent and I grew up with Lightfoot. In fact, for Mothers/Fathers day I bought tickets for my parents. They said they would buy us supper that night. Awwww.
Anyhoo-Sarah just showed gotta go. Hair dye is calling. Ciao!

Sunday’s Links

May 20, 2007

Pretty sweet isn’t it? It’s a WWII era poster. I found it and many more here.
The site address says Northwestern University. It’s pretty neat.

Interested in the Summer of Love? PBS/American Experience has their show available online to view free. Pretty sweet! Check it out here.

Love a good pirate story? Check out History Channels pirate story. They also have a website.

These links come from the El Dorado County Library. Lots more links there.

As for my links of the day :) here’s my first five del.icio.us links:
OneLook Dictionary Search
Acronym and Abbreviation Dictionary
Digital History (trailers of historical significant films)
Online Book Pages (free online books!)
National Geographic Maps Interactive

Hope you enjoy the links! This was a lot of fun-I may try doing this on Sunday’s from here on out. Ciao!
