Oscars and the Weekend

February 26, 2007
So, I missed the Oscars. Slept right through it. Dreamt about my husband and someone being abusive to me and having to kill whomever and my hubby to get away. He is alive, at the moment, but it was just weird. Course, Chris didn’t like the dream too much, and I’d have to say neither did I.
So some Oscar news is that Martin Scorsese got his Oscar as director. Picture of the year was Departed. Not sure I agree with that but okay. Forest Whitaker and Helen Mirren won Actor/Actress. Jennifer Hudson and Alan Arkin for Supporting. Al Gore won an Oscar for his documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Animated feature was Happy Feet.
Looking forward to the weekend. Been busy this week at work and have felt wiped out upon getting home. So it’s going to be cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry type of weekend. We may try and do something fun on Tuesday. I do have a work meeting so I’ll need to keep an eye on the time.
Wish I had something witty to say. But I don’t so how about a quote from Clint Eastwood: I tried being reasonable, I didn’t like it.
Ciao!

96 Checkouts and 2 Links

February 25, 2007
So I discovered something cool via LifeHacker. It’s called BeeThrere and it will track who’s coming to your town and what artists will be in the area. I singed the hubby up as there are a few artists I’d like to see.
I have something close to fifty blogs I like to read, thus I have signed up for Bloglines which allows you to add blogs. Then they will tell you who has a new posting. I like it because I don’t have to spend an hour going through blogs.
Anything to make life simpler. Well, I’ve still got a killer headache and hoping it goes away again. Caffeine withdrawal is painful but at least I won’t have that addiction any more. Been downing the water like no one’s business. So far I haven’t been running to the restroom a whole lot. Either I am dehydrated or retaining water. Wonderful blogging, ain’t that?
So I am work and trying hard not to work. We will have 96 check outs tomorrow. I don’t think we have ever that amount. My express checkouts are major. If I don’t fold them, I don’t have to run them to the rooms, right? Yeah, back to the grindstone.
Have a great day, y’all. Ciao!

Friday Feast

February 24, 2007

Appetizer Where on your body do you have a scar, and what caused it? I have an indent in my right shin bone from sliding legs first into a water fountain when I was in junior high.
Soup What is something that has happened to you that you would consider a miracle? I rolled several yards down the side of a butte and stopped just short a huge boulder. Thank you, God.
Salad Name a television personality who really gets on your nerves. Rachel Ray
Main Course What was a funny word you said as a child (such as “pasketti” for “spaghetti”)? One of my sisters started it, but butterfooted for barefoot
Dessert Fill in the blank: I have always thought ______ was ______. I have always thought asparagus was good. (My grandma’s asparagus casserole rocks!)

Dr Pepper and Ricky Skaggs

February 24, 2007
I have started a new blog about my religion and beliefs and my struggles. One Who Believes is simply one way I am trying to work out my faith. In related news, it has been over 24 hours without a soda pop. My five-six day habit of Dr Pepper is now at zero. I’ve been drinking water and juice and having a ball. Once I got past the withdrawals.
Apparently my hubby found a concert he wants to go to on Sunday night. Looks very interesting and if we make it, it will be my first concert!
If interested, CMT’s Crossroads airs a new episode with Bruce Hornsby of Bruce Hornsby and the Range fame with Ricky Skaggs. Looks very interesting.
Sorry for the short post but I have got people getting four am wake up calls and I’ve got to get express checkouts folded and ran and coffee made! More tomorrow.
Ciao!

Miscellanea

February 23, 2007
So, a month ago I spent some time trying to figure something out that took me literally a few minutes this morning. Say hello to del.icio.us and flicrk. Blog is starting to look like I want it. When knowledge and no-how and a little inspiration meets it is a wonderful thing.
Just want to say that I say a Robin Williams movie this weekend that was very good: Man of the Year. It also has Laura Linney in it and she is wonderful. The movie is good and I liked the political jabs in it. Definitely recommended.
I have given up Dr Pepper. I may have to take up Valium to quit but I have quit. Any addiction is not good for you and my soda pop became an addiction. Though I am telling myself this is only for Lent, I know once I stop I won’t want to get back on this stuff again. Please pray for me. And Chris-he’s going to need it to put up with me!
Tonight was a very good night. I’ve manage to make a dent in the bedroom tonight and put some things out on dresser tops. I don’t want anything on top of the dresser which had become a place to lay clothes. Not anymore. I even changed sheets tonight and it only took five minutes! Next, I am going to look for king size comforters that I like. I simply can’t figure mine out and I am frustrated at feeling like a complete idiot. So it’s going out the door once we have a replacement.
Well, I’ve got some express check outs to fold, dinner to eat, and a hubby to call. Have a great day!

Thursday Threesome

February 22, 2007

::Coffee in my Lap:

:Onesome: Coffee–? …or no? Black? Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce? Homeground beans (that you roasted)? Tea? Green? No? Water? What is your “sip of choice” right now? Right now it is water, the coffee is brewing and smelling wonderful, so I will be sipping shortly on some Holiday Inn Express Coffee with hazelnut creamer and sugar,
Twosome: “In my– wildest dreams there’s no way I would ever even consider _______!”
Uh, skydiving, eating Haggai, streaking
Threesome: Lap–top or desktop? Which is your choice for hanging around on the net? …or your choice if you had one? Laptop so I could watch TV and play on the net.

Play along here: Thursday Threesome

Weekend and Birthday

February 22, 2007
So the weekend was so typical for us. I have got to learn to start talking and somehow we’ve got to get on the same page about weekend. I have a few thoughts about what I could do and I need to implement those NOW!
My birthday was fabulous. My mom took Chris and I out for breakfast, her treat and my decision. I wanted cheesy hash browns and baked apples so we went to Cracker Barrel. Then back home where I slept soooo well. It was wonderful. When I got up SuperHubby had gone and gotten me a cake at Albertson’s. Dinner at the Macaroni Grill, paid for by the in-laws. Stop at Barnes and Noble, then a movie, and home again. It was a wonderful day.
Rest of the weekend wasn’t the best. But I am not going to touch on that. The movie we saw was Breach. While this was good and I like Laura Linney and Chris Cooper, I liked The Good Shepherd better. But, this was still a good movie.
I ain’t got much too discuss tonight. Did my other blog and my head seems to be still on that.
Well, I am going to call the hubby back. Have a great day! Ciao.

Happy Birthday!

February 19, 2007
Happy Birthday to Me! Today I turn 28. No, I am not thinking about the fact that I am only 2 years away from 30 (that’s 730 days!) and that I am getting old. Instead I am going to focus on having a good day. Chris and I will go out to eat tonight at Macaroni Grill. His parents will join us-I don’t think my family will be going. Their decision. Chris mention that he is going to get out this morning while I’m napping and get some presents. I’ve tried to give him lots of ideas. Like I want a under-the-cabinet CD player for the kitchen. We have one CD player and it’s in the bedroom. I like music while I cook. Another idea is some amethyst earrings. A CD player for my car. A crock pot. Books and music will work. Food and kitchen related items work.
I have got to pick up the house sometime today. It’s not bad but if I don’t do it today it will get bad. Nap this morning so I can stay up and go to a late movie. Excited, aren’t I?
I haven’t done anything on my wedding scrapbook. I need to sit and print some words/phrases out. I’ve got the special paper. My time at work, though, doesn’t quite lend itself to give this project some time. We don’t have a computer at home and that makes it a little difficult. I’ll come up with a solution sooner or later. Maybe once everything calms down.
Rhema Bible Church and School is having their Winter Bible Study this week. People from all fifty states and several countries will be in town to attend services at Rhema, spend money, and stay in hotels. We should be full this week. As a general rule, these attendees are quite nice and respectful. The only problem with any church event like this is there are some with the thought that God will pay the bills. I do not doubt God will make a way, but we take credit cards at check in. Valid credit cards, ones that we can charge your stay and get money back. I usually have one or two bad cards and have had one strange request, but as a general rule things aren’t too bad in regards to having to track people down for moola. That strange request was getting the cash back-nearly 600 dollars-and put the room on a credit card. I told them to talk to the manager tomorrow. That incident was a couple of years ago.
Well, I think I’ve said enough today. Y’all have a great couple of days. Ciao!

Movies and Bithdays and Celebrities

February 18, 2007
So I have played with the colors on my blog. Again. Sea green blue. I think it’s pretty. Any hoo.
So Brittney shaved her head and Anna Nicole is finally embalmed. I think we can all safely say that we are too informed when it comes to celebrity news.
Yesterday, would have been my grandpa’s birthday. I wonder how grandma did, yesterday. I tried to call mom to reminder her about the birthday and that she might want to call grandma. Couldn’t get ahold of my mom, though.
Monday is my birthday! It will probably be me and Chris going out to eat at Macaroni Grill. Then to the movies to see Breach. Which has Laura Linney and Chris Cooper in it. I heart Chris Cooper. He’s not the most handsome actor out there but I enjoy his work. Much like Billy Bob Thornton, which also has a movie out this weekend called The Astronaut Farmer. Want to see this one, also. Perhaps next weekend.
So anyways. I don’t have much to talk about. So I guess I’ll go mess around on the web. Ciao!

This and whatever

February 16, 2007
Oh what a day. Slept so good, finally, today. I want to go back to bed at the moment but this time of night is the roughest. I’ll be okay. I got chocolates today. In return my hubby got the non-bitchy me. That’s because I got some sleep and some good communication with the hubby. Marriage sure isn’t easy.
I don’t have much to say today. Pitchers and catchers reported today. Pics tomorrow hopefully.
It’s cold-12 degrees. Suppose to get to the forties today and sixties by Monday. Betsy my loyal car will get a good wash and vacuum on Monday or Tuesday. Monday being my birthday not sure what’s going to happen. Besides dinner at Macaroni Grill-penne rustica for me.
Anyhoo-my brain is fried. Time to eat something and get my express checkouts folded. Have a great day.
Ciao!
