Fall Back

October 29, 2006
I hope y’all remember to set your clocks back an hour as this is the end on Daylight Savings Time. We haven’t got the clocks up yet at the new house so I don’t have to worry about the time at home. Here at work, the maintenance department just handled flipping things back an hour. Working night shift for the past five years I’m always left with a weird sense of deja vu. You sit and watch 1:59 roll past then spend the next 20 minutes changing clocks, PBX, computers, etc. Then you sit and watch one o’clock roll by again. Kinda plays with your mind.
I can remember doing this at home as a teenager for dad. The clock in the living room, VCR clock, microwave, and stove. Usually it was done by me because I was the last one to bed. I don’t believe we were ever late for church.
My parents may stop by tomorrow evening for a visit. Dad and my siblings haven’t seen our new place. Which means when I get off I’ll do some cleaning and vacuuming and picking up. At least I’ll have a little bit of apple pie to offer. I think it’s the fall season but I’ve been wanting an apple pie. I used prepared refrigerated pie crust and canned pie filling and it just wasn’t as good as it normally is. Maybe it’s just me. Supper was good tonight and it was our first homemade meal in the new house. Cheesy rotini and chicken casserole was the name of it and it turned out really well. Chris took some left overs to work.
Well, I’m going to get back to work. Ciao!

This-n-That

October 28, 2006
Quick post as I’m headed out the door. Early out for the second day in a row. We’re back to the regular audit schedule so no more 25 day stretches. Yeah! I’m off on Monday and Tuesday nites which is great. We’ll go to the movies on Monday and putz around on our days off. Be so glad to have these days off.
Good news today as my Redbirds won it all. St Louis is probably going to party all weekend long. I’d give my left arm and first born child to have been there last night. As it was, I was passed out most of the game. Got up for the last couple of innings. Fine pitching from Weaver. This is STL’s 10th Championship. Only the Yanks can claim more. We are the champions, my friends.
Currently sitting at hubby’s work as I’ve come up on a mercy mission. Chocolates, Vienna sausages, and Coke. Am I a great wife or what? As much time as we spend together I’ll still be up here for a while. We’re just a pair of newlyweds. Aaah.
Being thinking of going back to Missouri and showing Chris around sometime after Christmas. Seeing Grandma and some family. Visiting the cemetary where my grandparents and great aunt and uncle are buried. Going by a couple of restaurants. And being reminded why, even though this town drives me crazy I would rather be here. In Tulsa there’s events happening, concerts of all sizes occurring, festivals and fairs, and of course a wide variety of things to do. Aquarium, zoo, semipro and collegiate sports, bowling alleys, a dozen movie theaters showing everything from art-house to indie to blockbusters, a huge library system, malls and shopping and dining experiences that is not to be had in small-town Missouri. I love MO and would love to move back. Just not back to where I’m from.
Well, enough with this. I’m off to play a little bit more. Ciao!

Weekend and Moving

October 26, 2006
We got moved. Monday morning I got off early as I finished my 25 day marathon. We picked up the U-Haul at 830 am, signed paperwork at the new place at 930, mom came over at 1000 am, and we were at the new place at around noon. Had the truck unload by two pm. That’s right-unloaded. Done and finito. Needless to say, we found the bed sheets, threw the bed on the floor and crashed. Hard. Got up around midnight and did some unpacking in the kitchen. Mainly to find glasses, bowls, etc. Went back to bed and was up in time to go get breakfast and return U-Haul. Did some unpacking, mom came over and helped out so it looks like home. Went to chiro at 300 pm Tuesday, got home and waited for DishTV to come out, slept some. Watched some of my game, the in-laws came over for a minute (with Chinese), fell asleep in front of the TV, and went to bed. Up early morning to go get groceries, piddled around the house, and then back to the chiro. Once back home we called maintenance and they came out and replaced the stove. I was crashed at that point. Exhausted, wore out, can’t function, tired. We made a stop at the liquor store and got some bubbly. That will be opened this morning. Nothing like bubbly before bed!
Are you tired yet? Very busy weekend. But we have a home that’s almost set up. Kitchen is unpacked, pantry and fridge is full. There are no boxes, full or empty, laying around. Things have very quickly gotten done. It feels good, even if I am tired.
World Series was washed out tonight. We play tonight and Friday in St Louis. Hopefully we’ll win this thing and not have to go to Detroit. It’s suppose to be cold and rainy up there this weekend.
Well, y’all, I’m going to mosey, see y’all later. Ciao!

World Series

October 21, 2006
So it’s Saturday and collegiate football is done for another week. OU won over Colorado, Texas A&M over OSU, Tulsa over Memphis, and Mizzou beat Kansas State. World Series opened tonight and the Cards came out strong. Won 7-2 over Detroit. Go Cards!
Nice article I found off of ESPN from a couple days ago about the World Series. It talked about how there a no curse that will be broke with this Series or that there is no NY team involved. No final appearance by the Rocket. What we do have is history. Deep, long history. The first time these two teams hooked up was in 1934. Then again ins 1968. Cards fans know recognize the names of Bob Gibson and Dizzy Dean who played in these series. This Series has a Cy Young winner throwing (Carpenter) and some say a future Cy Young winner (Verlander) which we completely dominated tonight. One of the best young catchers (Molina) against one of the best catchers period (Rodriguez). It’s a great match up and don’t you dare count out the Cards. The best team will win this series. Cards found ways to beat the Padres and Mets even though we weren’t suppose to to do anything. The Tigers found a way to lose big time to the Royals (100 loss season) at the end of the season. And this is October. Unlikely heroes are to be found this time of year. Mistakes made that will cost teams everything. Swings that will produce that one hit or perhaps that grand slam. It’s baseball and the only predictable about the Series is that is unpredictable. Don’t count out my Cards. Anything could happen.
Now, on to Babble. Have a great day. Ciao!

Cards to the World Series

October 20, 2006
Well, excuse me for a moment while I talk baseball. What a game. What A Game. Suppan pitched perfect eight innings. It was tied till late in the game. In the sixth inning Rolen had a homer that Endy Chavez stole from the top of the wall. I thought that was it. The moment was going to go to the Mets and we were done. But Suppan went out there and pitched his heart out and the Mets did nothing. Top of the ninth Rolen hit a single and that sent Molina up to the plate. Well, Molina is probably the worst hitter on the team (outside of pitchers) but he managed to send one right over the fence. Then Wainwright came out to pitch the bottom of the 9th and he managed to hang on. We won 3-1. Hello, Detroit!
I think I need to lay down after that game. So intense and good. Hopefully we don’t lay down and play dead like we did with Boston a few years ago. And this is a rematch of the 1934 and 1968 World Series. Baseball fans have long memories.
Well, it’s 22 days that I’ve been at work. Tomorrow my co-worker is back. Although he may not talk to me since he’s from New York. Pack, pack, pack, and more packing. Got to pack. Tomorrow morning it will be laundry and phone calls. Sleep and then up for supper and pack. No game so maybe just some good music (played loud) to keep the motivation going.
Well audit is done so I’m off. Have a great day. Ciao!

Update

October 19, 2006
Well, it’s been like 5 days since I last posted so I thought I’d update tonight. Let’s see-it’s day 22 with my weekend coming Monday. Which coincides with the move. Still haven’t hardly packed anything. This morning I’m going to load dishwasher and go wash the laundry. Then this evening I’m going to start on the kitchen. We’ve got to go pay the electric bill and transfer the utilities. Pay the cable bill sometime. Watch Game 7 of the NLCS (Go Cards!).
I will have worked 26 days on Sunday night. That’s a lot of days to work. So tired and then with this move on top of it all. Thank God for my wonderful hubby. He’s given me messages, a shoulder to cry on, and just been fabulous.
I sure can’t think of much. My head is in Babble. That and I’m going to call Mr Wonderful. Y’all have a great day and see ya tonight. Ciao!

Weariness

October 14, 2006
Tired. Oh so tired. Bone weary, soul crushing, can’t think worth a damn, just want to cry, body achin’ tired. And we’re still getting $#@ check-ins at 200 am. WTF? GO to bed, go away, just leave me alone! Thank God for chocolate. And soda. God bless Dr Pepper.
So we talked to the leasing agent at our new apartments and we are a go. We are officially (since it is after midnight) 9 days away from moving. Yeah! I’m going to set a hundred dollars aside out of my check so we can rent a U-Haul. One trip and we’re done. I’m going to try and get that day off. For some reason, I really want to spend that first night with my hubby in the new place. Hopefully I can get off. (Babe, mind out of the gutter!)
I really can’t say that much is going on. It’s work, eat, sleep, pack, chores, lay in bed and listen to hubby snore and damn the insomnia. What a wonderful life. I’m going back to babble. Have a good night, y’all.

Moving

October 13, 2006
I’m trying to do three things at once-blog, Babble, and do my early check-outs. But I wanted to blog so I can do just two things!
Suppose to nearly freeze tonight here in T-town. It would help with the allergies. Between that and the work and lack of sleep I’m definitely not 100%. That and it’s my 15Th day in a row. Yeehaw.
Starting packing today as we got the official word that the apartment is ours. Last move for a few years. Got the bookcase emptied and Chris went through his papers. We went through the magazines and he tossed several. Cleaned the top of the entertainment center off-we just need to tape a few boxes and get the rest of the living room accomplished. Will be hitting mom’s for the rest of her boxes and I’ve got a suspicion we’ll need to get more. That means I’ll have to send Chris to Wally-World at 100 am to hit up the stockers. The kitchen alone will take probably a dozen boxes.
Didn’t get but four hours sleep today and that’s with a Tylenol PM. Dragging some tonight but I’m not too bad. When I do get some days off, I got a feeling I’ll be crawling into bed as soon as it’s dark (six or seven pm) and sleeping twelve or thirteen straight and then napping in the afternoon on the next day. What a wonderful dream!
Well, y’all don’t have too much fun and I’ll see ya tomorrow. Ciao!

Moving and Sick

October 12, 2006
Yeah-I’m not blogging. Today is day 15. That’s right we heading into my third week of straight work. Ended up spending 72 bucks on a doctor today but it just maybe allergies. That and stress and some dehydration. So tired and so thirsty-so I’m going to see if my wonderful man will get me a water and bring it in when he gets off. (There’s a buck on the entertainment center, babe!)
Had my evaluation the other day at work and am convinced I’m am working for the wrong company. So-here we go again finding another job. I have stayed at jobs I’ve hated and regret every day. I may end up working days as I think I’m going to try finding a bookstore job. We shall see what happens.
Chris and I are awaiting good news on the apartment. I may have him call tomorrow. Going to be making some calls and Internet searches to find a U-haul thing. Need to pack, asap! Oh-the joys of moving!
Not much else in my brain. I’m going to babble and finish what my job entails. I’ll hopefully blog tomorrow!
Ciao!
