A little bit of everything

August 31, 2006
I’d thought I’d blog before hubby said anything. Hi baby! We spent all weekend sleeping. Like in 14 hour stretches. It was wonderful. Hold everything got to get some rooms set up for early morning arrivals. Okay I’m back.
Well, not much to report. Still some stiffness in my neck and shoulders-hopefully that’ll dissipate as the day goes on. And it going to be a long one. I’ll go home and rest for a couple of hours then I have to get up to come to a meeting at work. Hopefully back in bed by 1230 pm and then up at 730 pm or so to fix supper. Then tomorrow we’ve got some running to do as it’s the first of the month. Yeah. Guess it’s a good thing we slept so much this weekend!
The weather has finally broken. Today is the only day they are calling for 90’s (and it’s going to be 90!) and then it’s 80’s. With lows in the 60’s it’s starting to feel like fall. Almost time to start making stews and chowders and chili again. Yeah!
Chris and I haven’t done laundry in two weeks. So we went Wednesday morn to a Laundromat and got it accomplished. Six loads total but done in just over an hour. I really like the one we went to-it had a TV (which is great for the hubby). It’s also next to a convenience store, a donut shop, a Subway, and right next door to a Coney Island. Nothing like a chili dog with your laundry!
Well, mom is packing. They have to be out by the 12th of September. She called today needing my address for a form she was filling out. We shall see what happens.
CMA nominees came out today and well country is going to the dogs. Don’t believe me? Go to CMT and see for yourself. Missed Rock Star the past two weeks. That was fun while we watched it. Missed the season premiere of Bones tonight-I was crashed. There’s a Cream reunion concert on our local PBS affiliate tonight at 830 I might try to catch that if I don’t crawl back into bed!
Well, I had more to say than I thought. I’m back to surfing the web. See y’all tomorrow!

Rainy night

August 27, 2006
So I won my babble game-yeah me! And I’ve cleared out my email. Well, I’m going the folders to toss old e-mails I don’t need. Why I keep some of this I don’t know!
Hubby got his blog done before me. Of course he’s off after tonight for the next three days. We’re talking about going to church but we need clean clothes. Going to the Laundromat is not fun for my hubby. He ends up driving me crazy so usually we try to find some way to hijack a washer and dryer. Say his parents are gone, or mine are awol, or we go to the lake. I think I’m going to have to just take the two weeks worth to the Laundromat and spend 10 dollars to get it washed. Sigh.
I am just here tonight. It’s been raining almost all night and I’m kind of drowsy. Sorry folks this post wasn’t anything to talk about. Ciao!

Jelly Belly and moving

August 25, 2006
Just color me a happy girl. Hubby and I went to Target for 1) 2 liter of coke, 2) chocolate covered nuts for the hubby (there are so many lewd thoughts and naughty jokes that could generate) and 3) Jelly Belly. We walked out with two t-shirts and a belt, along with the foremention items, and $77 lighter. Yeesh. But tonight I will feast on Jelly Bellies and 7-Up. Ahhh-life is so good.
So what’s your favorite indulgence? I think food is one of my favorite ways to indulge myself. Kraft (gotta be Kraft) mac and cheese, Totino’s pizza, fresh fruit. I love to cook and when something turns out really good it’s like icing on the cake. Course my figure shows that I love to eat. Perhaps I ought to find something active that feels like an indulgence.
Well the lease is up on the junior apartment October 31. That’s 67 days (or 9 weeks and 4 days) till we are out of there. I’ve already started doing some searching online for duplexes, condos, townhouses, etc. Some of the features we want include washer and dryer connections, no upstairs neighbors, I want a pantry, quiet neighborhood. Of course, what we really want can’t be listed as features. Safety and security, to feel like home when you first check it out. You can’t know if you’ll slow dance in the kitchen to Dean MArtin or rearrange the living room a million times to fit the Christmas tree or whether that second bedroom will become a nursery. The listings can’t tell whether you’ll fudge the Thanksgiving turkey just how much room you’ll have in the kitchen. It can’t tell you whether you’ll have tight months where the rent check cuts into grocery money. These things are the intangibles that make a house a home. Of course with our little apartment we’ll look back someday amazed we made it in such a small apartment. Then again, it’s forced us to be together whenever we’re home. And while I want a kitchen I can play the radio while I cook and not worry whether he wants to watch TV, I’ve learned he really does like to watch TV with the mute on (and that is just so weird!). (By the way, we’ve just passed the four month mark to Christmas. Start panicking!)
Well, that’s all the deep thoughts for the day. Off to Babble!

Work and philosophy

August 24, 2006
What a day and I don’t feel good on top of it all. Didn’t feel rested when I got up and the evening…Well I should have just stayed home and cooked. I think I’ve got a cold of some sort and my chest hurts. Hopefully it’ll clear up in a couple of days.
If y’all have never read Robert Fulghum he wrote All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. He has a book by the same name that has been reissued for the 15th anniversary. I don’t remember how I tripped across Mr Fulghum just that I devoured his books over a hot Missouri summer in late high school. For a Unitarian minister I really dug his essays. Well, I’m rereading this new edition that is updated and revised. Thinking deep thoughts the past few days. Maybe that’s why I am so quiet. Anyhoo-if you want to read just the essay of All I Need to Know just go here.
Work keeps getting worse and worse and maybe I’m exaggerating. Yep, I am exaggerating. I am now on my own on Friday mornings. That alone should be worth combat pay. Nothing like 2-3 phone lines ringing, 6-8 people wanting to check out, drivers on the walkie-talkies, and somebody wanting to cash a check. I’m thinking that it just may be time to change my view. I do believe I’m going to check into Tulsa Community College and get that done. I don’t need to make any decision about what I want to do after that in terms of degrees lets get that accomplished. Time to start making some changes.
Well, y’all I’ve got a bucket check today. And babble to play-see y’all tomorrow. Ciao!

Great weekend.

August 24, 2006
Okay-halfway there in my Babble game-I’m so addicted! Weekend was very good. In fact, it was one of those weekends that years from now we’ll look back on and smile about. Slept a lot-in fact we stuck to our regular schedule and slept during the day. Got up in the evening, ate supper, and lounged around watching movies. We got groceries on Monday (eating is always good!) and got the extra mattress out of our apartment on Wednesday. I took my dresser and some rubbermaid tote containers from my mom’s to my mother-in-laws house as mom wanted it out of her garage. Oh, I also made a black forest/cherry/whip topping pie that’s almost as good as sex. I so wanna run home and get a piece!!!
Well, my siblings have started school last week. Hard to imagine that in 5-10 years Chris and I could be getting child(ren) off to school. Buy all that supplies and new clothes and shoes. Children are so expensive! Then again, so are husbands!
My baby didn’t go to the Alice Cooper concert on Tuesday. We went to the Driller’s game (Tulsa AAA minor league team) instead. It was good just a little…Boring, if you want the truth. Maybe I’m spoiled by TV announcers. The “I’m so cool” teenagers in front of us were almost more entertaining than the game!
So we watched Syrania with Matt Damon and George Clooney and I still honestly don’t know what it was about. It was a tense movie that kept your attention but I still didn’t know what I just watched. Glory Road was very good. It was about the first NCAA basketball coach to put an all-black team to start in the NCAA Championship game. Very good movie. Saw Larry the Health Inspector or whatever it was called. Definite guy movie-lots of farts, poop jokes, and well stupidity. Chris laughed, I rolled my eyes. ‘Nough said.
So here we go with another week-so far it’s starting out decent. We shall see, won’t we, how it turns out. Ciao!

Addendum

August 20, 2006
Two posts in one day-aren’t y’all lucky! Just saw a news story on MSN that LA’s lone country station has gone off the air. Reason #30545 I don’t want to go LA. NYC also doesn’t have a country station.
Anybody else watching Rock Star Supernova? Well, Chris and I are watching. Last week we agreed Z would get the axe. We were right and she’s gone. I’m trying to load the screen to vote for the request show that will air on Tuesday. It’s slow loading! I have to say I really like Storm
The huge storm that blew threw here blew out a window on the eleventh floor. I haven’t heard from mom but I am assuming they are okay. We might have a few linemen from the electrical company come in this morning.
Well, y’all just breezing through! See ya tomorrow.

Rain in T-Town

August 19, 2006
It was hot again today-hit 101 today and yesterday’s high was 103. Hot and steamy-welcome to the jungle indeed. However about 900 pm tonight a storm moved through and brought lots of lightening and thunder and some rain. Got under just under .16 of an inch but the precipitation was wonderful. Chris went out to smoke before he got ready for work and said storm was coming. Then it hit me-we moved our full size mattress to the patio cause we didn’t want to trip over them in our tiny apartment. So they are now in the apartment. Hey babe-call Billy.
Well, on August 20, 1986 we had the very first “postal” rampage. A disgruntled worker entered the Edmond, Oklahoma post office and killed fourteen people before killing himself. No big memorial is going to happen.
Several murder stories in the news today. There’s remains that have been found in a vat in Dexler, Missouri. The case originated from a drug investigation and someone sang about the remains. Probably to make a deal with the prosecutor. There’s a man arrested in the Caribbean for a 1982 murder of a beauty queen. She was found in her apartment in Carson City, Nevada. Of course, JonBenet’s story is still big news. World is coming to an end, y’all.
I wish I had some good news to end tonight with. Cooler temps here in Tulsa. Had a really good supper tonight (if ya want a kickbutt meatball soup recipe let me know!). Oh-Mr Wonderful is off for his weekend after tonight. It’s really slow at work.
Off to go babble, y’all!

Big Beds!

August 19, 2006
So we got the nicest, biggest bed imaginable! It’s like an acre of bed in our room. After having it “delivered” by some nice guys here at work we simply threw a flat sheet on the bed and crashed. Now I get to do something I’ve wanted to do for a while-get rid of that comforter. I think we’ll have it dry-cleaned and either have his Aunt Cindy sell it or just give to Salvation Army. After we buy something else. I’m going to do some surfing online and hopefully find something on sale. As for a sheet I think for now I’ll just get a fitted sheet as we don’t use a top sheet. We both sleep very well and I’m very glad we spent the money for it.
For sleep as well as I did you wouldn’t think I would be hurting today. I’ve got a little bit of a headache and my shoulders are tense. Wonder what’s up with that. I’m sorry guys but my brain is fried. To much Babble and caffeine I suppose. I’ll see ya tomorrow.

Short and sweet

August 18, 2006
The hubby left behind his bag of chocolate at home and I’m thinking I should have grabbed some as I am jonsening for some choco. Slow night here in the hotel. Mom is going to bomb the house so I am going to call a friend at the old hotel to see what kind of rate we can get for her.
Good news-we’re getting a bigger bed today! The hotel did a renovation and they are selling off their items that aren’t going to be used. So a king size mattress, box springs, and frame for $275.00 Oh-and it’s about a year old. Thank you Lord!
My poor brain is so scrambled thanks to Babble. Started off good but starting to fizzle. I know I’m addicted cause I dream about it, sometimes it’s the last hazy thought I have ‘fore I go to sleep, and I log on at midnight when the new grid comes out. I need some intervention!!
See ya tomorrow guys (and sorry about the crappy post!).

Ramsey’s and Hot Weather

August 17, 2006
Well, when you can hear your husband frothing at the bit for a new post and he’s not even on the phone you know it’s time to quit Babbling and start blogging! Sorry, babe! Mr Wonderful is off in an hour and if you get to read this sweets, it’s toilet paper. Don’t forget the TP!
Well, looks like another weekend has passed. The lake was nice. Wasn’t quite like last time. I can’t wait till this fall or even winter to go down. I am so sick of hot weather. One of the local TV channels was saying that this is the 72nd day of 90+ degree weather. Uck. I’m moving to Maine next April!
Well, I want to touch briefly on an arrest made today in Thailand. John Mark Karr has been arrested in connection with the JonBenet Ramsey case. The Ramsey case has been open since JonBenet was found in dead in the basement of her Colorado home on the day after Christmas 1996. I have been a true crime buff ever since junior high and Truman Capote. I remember this case mainly because of two things: a) it was never solved and b) this little girl was made into a miniature woman for pageants. I also remember how the parents were suspected in this case. With the arrest of Karr, perhaps we can know what happened and how JonBenet’s last minutes were.
So that wasn’t briefly, but I do remember pieces of this so well. It’s one of those things that have stuck with me and when I hear something about it my ears perk up.
Not much is going on in the world it seems. Which is a good thing. I’m off to Babble! Ciao!
