Weekend plans

July 31, 2006
The fact is is that your man can drive you to drinking…Now whether you pick up that drink or not is up to you. My man is excellent at driving me crazy. Calls me up to see how I’m doing. Wonderful, caring, thoughtful gesture. I reply that I am hungry. He asks whether there’s anything in the back to eat. I reply yeah, the vending machine. He then says oh, okay, I’m going to watch my movie then. Am I really too subtle or is he just that dense? If the conversation had been reversed his reply would I’m hungry would have prompted a run (by me) (regardless of what I’m doing) to see to my man’s need. Thanks, baby. I honestly don’t think that man is going to get some French toast this morning. And yes, I’m pissy right now. Hunger makes me that way.
Did y’all know that the Tribeca Hotel in NYC has bowls of goldfish and that if you wish you can take them to your room. That’s a cool gesture. I’ve been browsing hotel websites and the Travel and Leisure website tonight (my book sucked). I’ve thought that designing hotels would be cool-not sure about running them. Perhaps a small hotel I could run. Say 15-30 rooms, single story or maybe just two stories with all the rooms around a courtyard. Some French/NOLA type wrought iron balconies and the first floor would have personalized patios. Some great outdoor lightning, some very comfy chairs, resort-type pool and a couple of hot tubs. Rooms would all be non-smoking, decorated in different colors but very rich jewel tones. Wood floors with rugs and French doors to the balcony. Just smoky dreams on a hazy summer day.
So hopefully we’re off to the lake this afternoon. Probably when it hits the hottest temps. When I get home it’ll be some French toast (egg and milk mixed together with a little vanilla and cinnamon to dip pre-sliced French bread in) and cinnamon coffee (although it just may be chicory by the time I get home), call chiro around eight and hopefully out the door. Then a few bills to pay, stand in line for the tag agency and then maybe to the bank. Home to pack and then off to the lake-Chris will be driving. If no lake (which is a probability) then rest and perhaps groceries tonight. Tomorrow perhaps some antiquing/junking which Chris will just love (sarcasm so early in the morning). Who knows. The weekend is ripe for possibility.
Well, my obligation to update this thing is done and I am out the door. Have a great day.

Pizza ‘n Freaks

July 30, 2006
Well, the freaks have gone to bed, finally. First they kept everyone up till 0300 and then they want late check outs. Talk to day staff, people. Hotel biz is so wonderful on occasions. I am sure someday soon we’ll be so bored we’ll talk about these people and other loud, noisy groups.
Well, I played around with the husband’s blog and added a couple of buttons. He likes them so I guess I did okay. Was really tempted to put something pink and annoying on his blog. I resisted though, and he was pleased. Speaking of the husband, he’s off at 1000 this morning for the next three days, lucky dog. On the plus side, I get to eat lunch with him on Sunday nights while I work (slave!) away. Lucky me (for getting to eat with him, not that I get to slave away!).
Not much going on in my little world. Someone left pizza in the back and I peaked at what they got. It was a pepperoni pizza and a sausage/pepperoni pizza. I know I am strange but I will not eat a plain ‘roni pizza. I don’t like sausage on my pizza but will eat it on meat lovers. I do like the taco pizza’s you occasionally find. I also like veggie pizza which my husband thinks is insane. Actually a veggie is better for you than a meat lovers. The chicken club pizza at Mazzio’s is really good. I know, I’m picky. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older or if it’s because I like to cook. Perhaps a little bit of both.
Well, Monday (being the last day of the month) I’ve got to get tags on my car, Chris needs to get his license, and I get to transfer my license to my new last name. Then to the social security office but that could take up to an hour, yuck. I think we’ll accomplished the SS office later. Hopefully after doing that and paying bills we can head to the lake. He’s going to call his aunt and see if she could let us in. I hope we can. Also, Monday, Mr Wonderful is taking me to the chiro if I can get in. The middle of my back is hurting something bad. Not sure what I’ve gone and done this time.
Well, I’m off too surf the web a bit more. See ya’ll later.

Misc.

July 29, 2006
Boy it’s been a while since I blogged. I’ve been doing the food and beverage audit on Wednesday and Thursday nights and it’s a trip. Very hard on my brain. I just don’t have time to blog, but I do check my email that’s about it.
I love shopping on-line! Found a black purse embossed with the Cardinals STL logo. I LOVE that purse!!!! I think I’m going to try some Christmas shopping on-line. I know that I’ve got a few ideas for Chris-stuff I can only find on-line.
Chris and I have had a few fusses here lately. Welcome to marriage, darlin’. Things are all okay. Now if I could convince him to move to a duplex/trailer/something other than an apartment things would be good. I am soooo sick of our neighbors I could beat our neighbors up. Stomping up and down the stairs like the Gestapo. Lord help us. I want to get away from apartment living. We can surely rent something in this town!
Went and saw Cars at the drive-in. I may never go back to seeing movies at the theater again! It was so nice to comment on the movie during the movie and not having someone hush you. Then there’s the opportunity to smuggle in so much more food! Shoot-could have had a bbq’ed pig in the trunk! This is great!
Well, anyway, I’ve got the husband on the phone and he’s waiting impatiently to read this. Perhaps more later. Gators.

This and that

July 23, 2006
Wow-so much has happened in the past day or so. I guess its not that so much has happened as I’ve been updated on happenings. Chris and I went to our first family function as the Coffey’s. His uncle got married today and we showed up promptly on time-after a little rushing and fussing. His parents were glad to see us there.
Just a thought on weddings-this bride was stuffed into a dress and her cleavage was thrust out. Reminded me of Steal Magnolias where two of the stars are watching someone dance in a tight dress and one says, It looks like two pigs wrestling in a sack. Or something along those lines. What is it with people stuffing themselves into these skin tight dresses? There was a guest there who wore a bright green dress that was made of stretchy fabric. Let me just say it sure didn’t do anything for me. Looked like she had more fat rolls than I’m sure she did (and she wasn’t even a big woman!). Please, friends don’t let friends (and family) wear this type of thing. Or do they? Perhaps as a joke?
Anyhoo, I got an email from my old boss Jeff-he’s moved to Colorado and married!! Hey Jeff-I told you to move to Colorado-not get married! Congrats Jeff!
Things are going good here in Tulsa. Weather has finally broke-it’s so nice to go to work at 1100 pm and not drown in sweat. I don’t think we got any thunderstorms but we’ll definitely go with the cooler weather. Chris and I hopefully get back to Grand Lake for Tuesday night. On Monday-hopefully-we’ll go see Cars at the drive-in theater. Ain’t that cool-seeing a movie about cars at the drive-in. It really rocks my boat.
Work is going good-I do the food and beverage audit twice a week and the room audit three times. I think eventually I’ll be do f&b full time when I get it down really good. I like it-the thinking and evaluating. Although I’ll miss all the down-time. A lot of goofing can be done when you’re doing the rooms side of the biz.
I lost a CD from the library nearly a month ago. When I inquired how much to replace turns out it would be cheaper to find a copy and take that in. So I went online and bought from Amazon I also bought some Allman Brothers Band. It was title Gold and there’s a bunch of groups/artist with that title. Kind of like a “best of” or “compilation” type of thing. That ABB is an excellent CD-filled with all the songs I know and love and some I’m not to familiar with. Very very good. This is not the first thing I’ve bought online. Just recently I’ve tried online shopping. The reasons are so familiar: no lines, no frustration at not finding what you want. I like Amazon because I’ve got a list so I know what I want. Next payday (or two) when I decided to spend 10 or 15 (or more) on a CD, movie, or book it’s listed right there. I’ve ordered pantyhose on line and that was an excellent adventure. Now I’m going to order a purse with STL on it (be still my heart). Finally joining in with millions of other people. I rather like on-line shopping.
Well, I’ve rambled on and I really need to get back to work. Have a good day!

Weekend at the lake

July 20, 2006
What a wonderful weekend!! Went to Grand Lake and spent Monday and Tuesday on Monkey Island at Chris’ grandpa’s trailer. It was so quiet and peaceful. Wonderful, wonderful. Just what I (and we) needed. It felt like a vacation. There was time for some heart to heart talks and some splashing in the lake and just lounging around in the a/c. Could not have asked for more in a weekend. Was absolutely wonderful!
Work has gone…so-so. I’m learning the food and beverage part of the audit. Did really good up to a certain point. Was left on my own and did just fine. A little slow but who isn’t when learning something new. Then one of my co-workers came to help me out and she basically took over. I really hate that. Hopefully tomorrow L— can let me do this and I can do it on my own. He’s really good at letting me go and figure it on my own and yet providing guidance when needed. We shall see.
So a great weekend that left me relaxed and a day back that’s left me a little stress. That’s par for the course isn’t it. Anyhoo-going to go get me a cinnaroll. I’ll see ya tomorrow.

Drunks!

July 16, 2006
Drunks-what a wonderful bunch of human beings to deal with. Some of them didn’t get drunk enough in our bar so that had to go next door and get even drunker. I’ve had complaints from two floors tonight about drunks slamming doors and being loud. Happy happy joy joy.
On a brighter note, Fashion Bug is having a huge sale. Got a wild hair and decided to go over there today and am I glad I did. Found out they were having a sale and got four new shirts for work for about $50. Saved just over $11 in the deal. Yeah-work clothes. I couldn’t ever find the pantyhose I liked in Wal-Mart so I ordered some online and got them today. I am now set for work, I do believe. That’s a huge weight off of my shoulders.
Well-I need some DP and some chocolate. I am off to the back real quick to get my fix. Have a great day and see ya tomorrow.

Been awhile

July 15, 2006
Yeah yeah-it’s been awhile. I’ve been learning the food and beverage side of the audit and haven’t had time for a break. Tonight I’m back on the rooms side of it all and have loads of down time. Time to talk to the husband, time to have lunch, time to blog. Life is good (now if my cramps would only go away!).
Chris’ grandpa has a trailer at Grand Lake and we are trying to get access so we could go down and spend the night on Monday. Looking forward to getting out of town. His aunt has a house and dock down there and we’ll float in the water off of her dock. Sounds like so much fun-I hope this works out. If not, there’s always the apartment pool.
So much in my head tonight and yet I can’t seem to get my brain to have a coherent thought. Being tired is to blame. I’m going to wrap this up and talk to y’all tomorrow.

Salt and Pepper Shakers

July 9, 2006
Someday I want a house-mind it doesn’t have to a “McMansion” but comfy. I do want a large bedroom so we can put a king size mattress in our bedroom. I also want a huge kitchen with lots of storage and a walkin pantry. I love to cook and already have a good start on having way too much kitchen stuff. I still don’t have half of what I want! On my wish list in a Kitchen-Aid Stand Mixer (you know the one, multiple color choices nearly $300 price tag). I also want an ice cream maker (that I should be able to buy soon), a tart pan, and too much too think of right now. I also love salt and pepper shakers.
Now I have resisted every urge to go browse at eBay. Man, I could get the “I wants” bad over there! I am attracted to the whimsical and to the cowboy/Western/chili pepper themes. Isn’t this one just cute! I need some space in my new kitchen to hold cute s&p shakers I’ll never use! By the way these are from Online Discount Mart.
I have seen tonight Space Shuttle s&p shakers and NY towers and just about everything you could think of. Anyhoo, I suppose I ought to do the work I’m paid to do. See ya tomorrow.

Quick post

July 8, 2006
Does anyone have a great couscous recipe as a side dish? I’ve been looking online but it seems to be a lot of middle Eastern type of recipes. Not sure I want to eat lamb and seems a lot were geared towards veggie main dishes. My man has to have meat and sides so if any knows a recipe or a site let me know, please.
Not much going on-mom finally called me. Basically told me I have stuff at her house and to get my stuff ASAP. Last time I talked to mom was nearly two weeks ago. She didn’t ask how things are going or how I’m doing. This is deffinately not how I want my kids to be raised.
Well, I need to run. I’ll talk later.

Chiro Appointment

July 6, 2006
So after Chris has read everything I have to say on this blog he decided that he wanted his own. So guess who set him up the past couple of days? I do have to say it was fun. Perhaps I ought to consider becoming a web designer or something similar. Something to consider. I have missed the Thursday Thirteen and the Friday Feast. May try to bring that to y’all some time tonight.
Not much going on with the Coffey’s. Slept all day. Tomorrow is my first chiro appointment in two weeks. I’m so excited! Come on 830 am! While I’m not hurting it will feel good to get cracked and popped. Right now I’m focusing on not popping my neck. They get a little cranky when they can’t pop it themselves.
Anyhoo-I’m going to get a Dr Pepper as all I can do is yawn. Lator Gators.
