Another Weekend Over

February 27, 2006
Sounds kinda funny saying it that way but another weekend has rolled by. My little brother and I got out on Saturday for a road trip. We had a good time and found an Amish store on our adventure. Bubby enjoyed the beef jerkey while I’m enjoying the apple butter. Don’t know how mom and dad are liking their cheese ball. Saw Chris at work on Saturday night after playing cards with Manda. All in all a nice quite weekend.
Well, the Winter Olympics are done for and the torch has been passed to Vancouver for the 2010 version. Managed to see absolutely none of the Olympics this year. I still don’t understanding curling, skiing/snowboarding just doesn’t do anything for me, and anything on ice is so “cool” it’s not cool. Then there’s hockey which I would love to like more but just don’t for some reason. So in two years we will have the 2008 Summer Olympics from Beijing.
Two recent deaths to pass on to you guys. The dad from A Christmas Story has passed away on Saturday. Darren McGavin was 83. Don Knotts passed away on Friday at the age of 81. Andy Griffith was at his bedside when he died.
Well, y’all I will see ya tomorrow hopefully.

Restless

February 22, 2006
Not much in the news again today. Since I’m not into politics there just isn’t much to talk about. The winner of the largest jackpot will be coming forward today. Could be a cash payout of 124 million after taxes. I’d definitely take a vacation, buy a home, a car, bless some people, give and give more, tithes, and still have moola left.
Feeling rather restless here lately as cabin fever has set in I do believe. I think I’m going to rearrange my room some time in the next few days. Start decluttering some more. Just get more accomplished than what I have managed in the past months. The snow and ice we got over the weekend has slowly melted-should be gone today. I don’t think that has helped things emotionally. So what do y’all do to solve the cabin fever crazies?
Well, things to do and people to annoy. See ya tomorrow.

Another Day in the Neighborhood

February 21, 2006
I’m kinda sleepy tonight. Had a full day with the boyfriend getting out and about. Got some sleep but still feel like I could still crash for several hours. However, I’m very happy and content so I’ll take the sleepy. So much going on in my head but I just don’t want to put it here. Even Chris has noticed that I seem to have a lot bubbling beneath the surface.
Well, not much going on in the world. Tulsa police may have caught their serial rapists. 65 miners in Mexico are trapped and hopes are fading. In baseball, Eric Gagne is looking good throwing off the mound. Gagne is the Dodger’s closer and had to cut last season short because of surgery.
Full squad workout today-yeah! We’re getting closer and closer to the season starting. Well, y’all I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

Birthday Blues

February 20, 2006
Does anyone else get the birthday blues? Happy Birthday to me-and again it sucked. No birthday gifts (okay, I’m 27 maybe I shouldn’t expect any gifts). I have two sisters with cells and neither called to wish me a happy birthday. The boyfriend did call and picked me up for dinner at moms. Which I bought the roast we all ate. Cut my own cake and wasn’t sung to. Sounding more like a pity party I’m throwing right now than a birthday. I think part of my problems is that is snowed and sleeted here in Tulsa this weekend. Roads are/were hazardous and I didn’t get out. Spent most of Friday evening, Saturday, and most of Sunday all by my lonesome. Being a loner this isn’t a problem, but after a good couple of days by myself I just wanted some conversation, some connection with another human being. I wanted kisses and loving from my boyfriend. Nope, tough luck kiddo. Conversations was had over the TV during commercials and my boyfriend just wanted to sleep tonight. So, yeah, I’m depressed, sad, disappointed, and blue. However, this seems to be a continuing pattern so either I let it continue or I do something to change things. Next year, I plan on doing something different. Not sure what but I’ve got a whole year to come up with something. And besides, who knows what will happen in a year. So while it wasn’t the best of days it wasn’t an awful day. I’m trying to come up with a way to treat myself and I think it just maybe cheesy hashbrowns at Cracker Barrel or Penne Rustica at the Macaroni Grill. Mmmmm.
To cheer me up even more is the news that the full squad reports on Monday and the first workout is on Tuesday. Of course, some players have shown up early. Especially those that are headed off to the World Classic. So more pictures coming on St Louis website that give me hope for the summer.
Well, I’m going to let y’all go and I’ll talk to ya tomorrow.

Happy Friday

February 17, 2006
We’ve got a meeting at work today so I’ll be staying over this morning. Jeff hasn’t been in all week-hopefully he’ll make it tomorrow. I just don’t want to work tomorrow afternoon. Not much going on in the world. It was really nice yesterday when I got off-56 degrees at 700 am. Had a high of 68 degrees at 1100 am and then the bottom dropped out and it was 47 degrees at 100 pm. It’s about 25 degrees outside with a windchill of 12 and a bitter northerly wind. Welcome back winter.
Lisa Marie Presley walked down the aisle again and married Michael Lockwood. Lockwood is a guitarist and musical producer. Presley has been married before to Danny Keough, Michael Jackson, and Nicholas Cage.
The Lt Governor of Oklahoma has had several talks with the Florida Marlins about the possibility of moving to OKC. Right now the Marlins are in the NL so if they did move here and stayed in the NL (a lot of “ifs”) they would play the Cardinals. So I would be only an hour and a half away from a game. Happiness. We’ll see-there is a few other towns that are interested in picking up a MLB team.
Well, y’all places to go and people to annoy. See ya on Monday.

Pitchers and catchers

February 16, 2006
Usually I reserve baseball news for the last so those that aren’t interested can skip right over it. Today though is the day bandied about as when pitchers and catchers report in for the Cardinals. The first official workout day is Friday. But Duncan is in Florida and Carpenter has been working for a while as he has a home in the area. Forget daffodils and Easter service-spring has begun.
Well, the shooting of Austin lawyer by Dick Cheney has really gotten the laughs from everybody and anybody. It was reported that Democratic staffers on the Hill was singing Cheney’s Got a Gun” (think Janey from Aerosmith). Radio stations have used Jr Walker and the All-Star’s “Shotgun” as background music when they talk about it. Letterman devoted a Top 10 to the topic. But on a serious note, if the dude dies-he had a heart attack just yesterday-Cheney could be held in some way responsible.
Last of the baseball news is that Sammy Sosa is retiring although nothing is official yet. His agent confirms that he will not be back in an uniform. Happy trails, Sammy. Roger Clemens in on hte US roster and I didn’t see any Cards. Knew that I didn’t want to watch the World Baseball Classic.
Sorry about not posting we have had internet problems at work. Maybe someday I’ll be able to afford a computer but till then I’m reliant on work. Y’all have a great day.

A little of this and that

February 14, 2006
After last weeks intenese and grueling schedule-8 shifts in 7 days-I’m back to normal. Hopefully. This week I’m going to try and get some rest and just take it easy. Once again I’m apartment hunting although I’m beginning to think that I’m really insane and just torturing myself. A decent apartment seems to be above my means. Crack houses, though, are in my means. It took nearly two months to find something last year when I was looking. Now I want my own place with my own kitchen without breaking the bank. Someone wish me luck.
A few headlines for today from the world. VP Dick Cheney shot his hunting partner with birdshot this weekend. Don’t worry, Cheney looks to be getting a shot from the state of Texas because he didn’t have the stamp to go hunting. Wonder how much Texas officials cost to bribe? That was bad-I’m sure the Texas officials are wonderful and above bribery. Cheney on the other hand is probably an old hand at getting “people” to offer bribes.
A Nor’easter dumped record levels of snow the Northeastern US. NYC got something around 26 inches and Boston got 20 inches. With that much snow you don’t have to turn on the radio to see if school is canceled-it’s a safe assumption that there’s no school.
Ever seen the movie Jaws. Now that you’ve got the theme in your head (you’re so welcome) see if you can remember Peter Benchley. Benchley was the guy who wrote the movie. He passed away this weekend at the age of 65.
Just two more days till baseball starts again.Woo-hoo. Can we say party?
Well, y’all, it’s time for me to mosey on back to work. See ya tomorrow.

It’s Friday

February 10, 2006
Although I do have to work tomorrow night making this a seven day work week. Two days of overtime will be nice on the check though. Got all my tax papers collected and I make just under 20,000 a year. Woo hoo. No wonder I feel so broke most of the time.
Not much going on in the news. Sports though is another story. The NHL after their year long lockout is now facing a gambling ring scandel that involves Wayne Gretzky and his wife. There are three Molina brothers in the MLB-one in St Louis and two in Anahiem. Now one of the Anahiem brothers is headed to Toronto. The White Sox will be in the White House on Monday to greet the president.
Winter Olympics start tomorrow from Turin/Torino Italy. Snow, ice, and some security and the features of these olympics. Catch all the skiing, bobsled/luge/skeleton, figure skating, ice hockey, and snowboarding that you can stand. Complete with Bob Costas! Is it just me or do most people have one particular sport they like and not really watch any of the rest of the Olympics? I’m not even sure I’m crazy about the Winter Olympics. Summer at least has beach volleyball and softball and gymnastics. Well, if the Olympics aren’t your thing rest assured the sports world goes on. NASCAR starts with the Daytona 500 on February 19th. February 16th pitchers and catchers report in at spring training. There are options for the sport enthusiast.
Well, y’all, I’ve got a few other things to do this morning. Have a great weekend.

Hiatus

February 9, 2006
I’ve seem to have taken a hiatus concerning this blog. The good news is that I now feel like doing blog again. I feel like passing on to whomever some news and entertainment and some sports news. I’m ready to get back to do my missing person. I don’t know why I took the break that I did. Sometimes you just need to take that hiatus. Part of it was the excitement of something new-for the first time in my life I’ve got someone special in my life. Chris and I are doing fine and while we are doing fine the excitement of someone in my life is becoming an everyday thing. I also think that part of it was just being tired, wore out, and no baseball which always leads to a little depression. Tomorrow we’ll be back up to a regular post. Sunday we’ll highlight a missing person. Tuesday will be Valentine’s Day. Life will go on. I’ll see y’all tomorrow.
