Slow day

December 28, 2005
Not much going on in the world it seems. In my little corner things are going great. Jeff’s kid is in from Houston for the week. His son is a spitting image of Jeff. Sarah has picked up some extra hours at work during this week. She’s been spending the night at mom’s a lot here lately so she can go in early morning.
One piece of news I did get was that Michael Vale passed away Saturday. He was 83 and died from complications of diabetes. Vale is known as the baker on the Dunkin Donuts commercials.
Well, y’all, I see ya tomorrow.

It’s a wonderful world

December 27, 2005
I had my first day today at the age of 26. His name is Chris and he’s a security guard. He’s older than me but that’s perfectly okay with me. I like how he just wants to make me happy. I didn’t know or even knew to hope that there was someone out there that would want to make me happy. I also got my car today after it being out of commission for nearly two months. I don’t think I’ve stop grinning since this morning even though I’ve got mustache burn. I’ve got butterflies and nerves, yet I can’t wait to see him again. I got little sleep today but it was worth every second of lost sleep. A year ago I couldn’t believe that I could be this happy and content. Thank you God for answering prayers whispered in my dreams.
Not much going on in the rest of the world. That escaped rape suspect in Florida was caught after a week on the run. In baseball we’ve got a couple of new additions. Juan Encarcion is a outfielder and Junior Spivey is a second baseman.
Christmas was good this year for a change. Chris asked me out Christmas Eve. I went over to mom and dad’s on Christmas Day. Helped mom out by cooking dinner, I picked Sarah up when she got off of work, and I got presents. I got a kick ass stereo by the folks and the movie Airplane topped off the list. It’s been a good start to the week.
Well, y’all, I’ll see ya later.

Merry Christmas

December 22, 2005
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. For me it’s going to be an upside down type of Christmas. Sarah will have to work in the morning so I’ll putter around the house and then rest in the afternoon. Then (providing I have my car!) I’ll head to mom’s around 430-500 in the evening where Sarah and I will open gifts. Then we will have a huge dinner. Then off to work around 1000 0r 1030 pm. I’m not giving gifts this year as my car isn’t done yet. Perhaps I will get some gifts for everyone and hand out on Epiphany which is January 6 I believe.
Not much in the news today. The NY transit strike ended today after three days. In baseball rumors are flying that the Royals are talking to Reggie Sanders. We’ve signed another pitcher. Sidney Ponson signed a 1 year deal. Ponson’s contract with the Orioles was voided this year and we were able to pick him up. LaRussa and Duncan have had success in the past with rehabbing alcoholic players so perhaps this will work out for everyone.
Well, y’all, Merry Christmas and see ya after the holiday.

Sunday is Christmas

December 21, 2005
Can ya believe that? I can’t. I don’t think I’m going to get Christmas this year especially if I have to get some antibiotics and a doctor visit. Still not feeling well at all. In fact the word of the day is miserable. I just want to sleep.
In Deming, New Mexico today a man opened fire with a handgun in a Wal-Mart. He injured a 6 year old girl, an employee, and another man. Police say that one man was apprehend by employees in the store, another was apprehend within an hour, and that they are still looking for one other guy of interest. Deming is approximately 30 minutes from the border.
Memorial service held in LA today for Tookie Williams. Williams is the founder of the Crips gang and was executed by the state last week. Everyone from Snoop Dogg to Rev Jesse Jackson to Crips members were at today’s memorial.
Some of baseball’s big names are being traded. Johnny Damon will be leaving the Red Sox to become a Yankee. Jacque Jones is headed to the Cubs and Kenny Lofton is headed to the Dodgers. St Louis has been awfully quiet so far this season. We still need some bullpen help and outfielders. We shall see what Jocketty is cooking.
Well, y’all, I’ll see ya tomorrow.

Sicker than a dog

December 20, 2005

Although I don’t have a dog. I think my sinus thing has become an ear thing. In addition to a hacking cough. Happy day.
Couple of news stories for ya today and then I’m off to breakfast. A seaplane went down in the surf just off of Miami. More details tomorrow but all 20 on board feared dead. 150 pounds of commercial plastic explosives have gone missing from a storage unit outside of Albuquerque. Also 2500 blasting caps and 20 000 feet of explosive det cord. This is enough to level a building. Scary stuff.
Had Christmas party last night with all the hotels that the management group owns. Named the Associate of the Year for each property. Ours is me! Not sure how I scored on this but I’m not knocking it. I was November’s employee of the month and now Associate of the Year. Now how about a bonus check?
Well, breakfast is calling my name. See ya tomorrow.

Sick day

December 19, 2005
In the “I shoulda called in” department-I am so sick and loopy right now. And I’m not even on any meds. I’m trying to phase out the cough syrup and sinus meds so I don’t overdose. Spent all day Saturday in bed and most of today. Work though must go on and so here I am. No missing person today as I couldn’t give it my all right now. I’ll do it tomorrow.
John Spencer passed away Friday from a heart attack. He was 58 years old. He was currently playing Leo McGarry on The West Wing.
Grudz has signed with the Royals. That’s an odd statement. Usually we’re stealing their talent not seeing our talent going across the state. Brian Looper signed with Cards and has joined our pitching staff. He was a closer for the Mets but will step in as a set up man for Izzy. When Izzy can’t pitch than Looper will be there. Looper debuted as a Cardinal in 1998. Carpenter has won the 2005 This Year in Baseball Award Starting Pitcher of the Year. Congrats to Carpenter!
Well, y’all, I will see ya tomorrow.

Day from hell

December 16, 2005
It’s been the day from hell here at work. Had to work with tech support to crash a computer, wipe the hard drive clean, and reinstall everything. The tech guy said it would take an hour. Famous last words of a fool. We started at 330 am and I was done at 540 am. Breakfast was late. People were down around 540 am for breakfast. Just finished housekeeping sheet. Yeesh. Had some baseball news but I’ll share on Monday. Y’all have a great day and weekend. See ya Monday.

Christmas humor

December 13, 2005
Flight Test For Santa
Santa Claus, like all pilots, gets regular visits from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It was shortly before Christmas when the FAA examiner arrived. In preparation, Santa had the elves wash the sled and bathe all the reindeer. Santa got his logbook out and made sure all his paperwork was in order.
The examiner walked slowly around the sled. He checked the reindeer harnesses, the landing gear and Rudolph’s nose. He painstakingly reviewed Santa’s weight and balance calculations for the sled’s enormous payload. Finally, they were ready for the checkride.
Santa got in and fastened his seat belt and shoulder harness and checked the compass. Then the examiner hopped in carrying, to Santa’s surprise, a shotgun.
“What’s that for?” asked Santa incredulously.
The examiner winked and said, “I’m not supposed to tell you this, but you’re gonna lose an engine on takeoff.”

Slow Day

December 13, 2005
In the things you don’t want to discover upon walking into work was today’s discovery. Server down-thus our entire system was down. No way to do check-ins or walk-ins. Nearly two hours (though only a half hour with me) and we were back on line. Then I pissed off a regular. Oh happy happy, joy joy.
No real news to report beyond a few baseball deals. Matt Morris has officially signed with the Giants. Kenny Rogers-camera basher extrodianare-is now in Detroit. Edgar Renteria is now in Atlanta.
Nothing else, really. So have a great day. See ya tomorrow.
